Wichita, KS City Council Mascot “Bingo Mama” and International Mascot “Panama Pete” pose for pictures while enjoying the Wichita Charity Ball on Feb 16.

Bingo Mama was given to Wichita City Council President, Lyla Bybee, by her sisters in Preceptor Beta Xi shortly after she was elected CC President. Lyla knew from reading the Beta Journal that International had a mascot so she decided to have a mascot of her own. Lyla has used Bingo Mama to promote participation from the 22 chapters in the Wichita area. She developed a bingo game for everyone to participate in during her year as CC President. The difference is that each space on the bingo card is directly related to Beta Sigma Phi. i.e. Attend Pref Tea, Host a Chapter Social, Sell x# of Raffle tickets for Scholarship Fundraiser, Give a sister a ride, etc. All cards are different. She encourages everyone to bingo as many times as they can before the end of her year in May. When you bingo you get a new card. Bingo Mama draws for a bingo prize at each CC meeting. At the May meeting there will be a drawing for something special, hopefully, a weekend getaway at a Bed & Breakfast near Wichita. Lyla is happy to say every CC event this year has had record attendance. Bingo Mama has visited almost every chapter and has the remainder of them on her calendar. She has also attended every CC function, of course, dressing for the occasion.

    Hello From Germany!

Landstuhl Regional Medical Center (LRMC) Wounded Warrior Ministry Center (WWMC)needs donations of disposable cameras! Landstuhl is the medical staging hospital for the wounded in Iraq, Afghanistan and other combatant regions where our military troops are supporting the Global War on Terrorism; When we asked the WWMC what they needed, what they never seemed to have enough of, they told us "disposable cameras!

"You might ask yourself "Wounded troops need cameras?" WWMC mentioned that when patients are able to be mobile, trips are organized to take them to local castles and wonderful German sights, and that the cameras allow them to take photos on these outings. It is a wonderful morale booster for them. When the wounded are medevac'd to LRMC for treatment, they often come with just the clothes on their backs. These cameras as well as all other donations (like new clothing and shoes, telephone cards, duffle bags, DVDs etc)are given to the patients free of charge from the WWMC.

If your chapter would like to donate disposable cameras you can mail them to Landstuhl Regional Medical Center, ATTN: MCEUL-CH/Chaplains Office, CMR 402, APO AE 09180. Their direct donor phone line is 011-49-6371-86-7419. Their Point of Contact is Silvia Chabala and her e-mail is Silvia.Chabala@amedd.army.mil -- put "WWMC Donation" in the e-mail subject line. Please contact the WWMC before starting your own camera service project to ensure the need is still there, or to find out what else they are most in need of, or if you have any questions!

    Thank-You so Much!
