'It was very cold for the Pilgrims that first winter. Food was in short supply. Some days, they had only five kernels of corn.
When spring came, the Pilgrims planted the remaining corn. The sun and rain helped the seeds to grow and much food was harvested in the fall. Every Thanksgiving thereafter, the Pilgrims placed five kernels of corn beside each plate to remind them of their blessings:
"The 1st kernel reminded them of the autumn beauty."
"The 2nd reminded them of their love for each other."
"The 3rd reminded them of their family's love."
"The 4th reminded them of their friends."
"The 5th kernel reminded them of their freedom."
Here are 5 kernels of corn to set beside your plate to remind you of . . . the special Blessings of Thanksgiving.
I am grateful for the Friendship we share as Sisters in Beta Sigma Phi!
Good for Thanksgiving time. Place 5 kernels in a small plastic gift bag. Type the message on card stock. Decorate by stamping, or fancy lettering, however & whatever you deem appropriate.
Tie to a bag of popcorn for Sisters to enjoy! After they eat the popcorn, they have 5 kernels to inspire them & they, too, can pass-it-on. It's makes for a wonderful & meaningful favor that time of year.
