Online Beta Report for Cyber Council May 2018

In April Margie presented a program on calendars- so much information on the origins of our calendar, sections of a month, names for each month, lunar phases, tropical year definined, and more! One of the sisters is on a camping trip and she shared this program with fellow campers while they socialized around the camp fire! What a great idea!

Some delicious recipees were shared- including delicious Baked Salmon, vegetable soup, lemony cake, and then one for a soothing fruit smoothie!

Golden Circle ritual was held for sister Janette B.

Three visitors- two from Online Upsilon.  This chapter has been closed.  I have just joined OLB from OLU and I love getting to know my sisters in OLB!

A Founder's Day dinner with program was enjoyed by all!  The new BSP theme was announced and Valerie, Woman of the year for 2017, announced that Rebecca S. was chosen as Woman of the Year for 2018!  Installation of officers will take place at our May meeting.  Members are busy volunteering committee chairs.

There was so much talk about cold, cold weather.  Today, as I write this report, it was 92 degrees on Long Island, New York!  Oh my!

This report is submitted joyfully by Joanie Nathan, OLB

I would also like to add a few things to our OLB sharing report

Karen did a great program in Mar on the "Magic of Colors & Coloring", she told about how color can change so many things in our lives and how coloring can be a relaxing hobby or past time for many and there are so many things to color now such as themed coloring books, journal covers etc with a variety of coloring pencils from basic to glitters.

Our Mar service project was a reminder of all websites that we can click on to contribute to worthwhile projects such as free mammograms etc.

Our Apr service project was sharing "The benefits of Water" committee explained why the body needs water 7 how it benefits us, easy ways to tell if we need to be drinking more.

Of course, the recipe & craft committee always shares lots of recipes & craft ideas of some "tried & true" ones and some that sound interesting for both months.

We have had lots of rituals the past couple months.  In addition to the Golden Circle, have had degree progression rituals, Silver Circle, Order of the Rose etc and several members returning from Leave of a Absence or Member at Large Status.

We try to have a gathering about every other year or so and it is that time.  Several of us are planning to meet in Pigeon Forge in June for a few days & some are also staying for the TN convention in Gatlinburg.

Hugs,

Sandy K

Spring has arrived to just about every geographical area in the continental USA.  It never ceases to amaze me that some areas still experience suggestions of snow into the month of April.

OLK rang out the 2017-2018 theme year with a lovely Founder's Day luncheon hosted by our faithful long term President Karen A.  She chose an outdoors dining that, in itself, is rich with history.  It was truly a special occasion for each of us.  Karen A. was awarded Woman of the Year.  The new BSP Theme and the new OLK Board was announced. Everyone is looking forward to the 2018-2019 new year.

OLK has a new Executive Board.  Karen A has been a faithful and dedicated Chapter President for four years, and her Vice President has been Erica G.  For the coming year of 2018-2019 these two fantastic ladies are switching places.  I'm very excited about the "team" these two ladies have created.  OLK is blessed to have their creativity and leadership.

Mimi P has returned to our fold of Chapter membership.  She needed time to iron out some family matters.  We are glad to have her back.

New members are making our roster grow.  Welcome to Charity, Rowie, Angel.  We are pleased to call these Ladies 'our own'.

Prayers are a frequent element in our correspondence with each other.  Sad things happen to strong women.  It's amazing the comfort we get from sharing with one another.   Some Sisters have concerns that need legal intervention.  Others have disease and health conditions that sound complicated just in the spelling.  Tears flow but hearts are aglow with comfort and support.

I want to say Thank You to the BSP Cyber Council for taking me into their fold during the 2017-2018 theme year.  I will be passing my writing pen to another OLK Sister.  I wish her the best as makes new friends in the Cyber Council Group.  Thank you Cyber Council Ladies, for helping me with the many questions I passed your way.  It has been my pleasure to be part of your group.  I wish each of you the best your daily pursuits and your dreams in BSP.

Membership Report:  Guests introduced at meeting were Janera F., visiting from Raleigh, NC; Kathy A. and Jacki W., of Crescent City, CA.  Jacki used to be a member of OLS; both her and Kathy are making up meetings for their land chapters.

Program/Social Report:  Diane presented the program, with help from Lee and Jan.  As several members were attending the annual reunion during the Founder’s Day period, a live and virtual celebration were held.  Live, the members were treated to a tour of Lee’s home and her craft room. Then, a wonderful brunch was served.  Tables were decked in black and yellow, and the menu featured two varieties of quiches, fruit, biscuits and breakfast rolls, as well as juice and coffee.  Members looked through Lee’s past scrapbooks she had received over the years.

Following the brunch, the Founder’s Day celebrations began with a reading of the International letter, revealing the 2018-2019 theme, “A Quilt of Friendship.”  Members who were unable to attend the reunion shared their Founder’s Day celebrations through the magic of technology – many were able to attend celebrations with their land chapters and/or councils in their hometowns.

Reunion:  The 2018 OLS Annual Reunion took place April 26 – 29.  Chris, Sheila, Rochelle, Diane, Judy, Jan, Lee, and Trudy.  Envoys attending were Ian (Sheila), Dave C (Jan), and David C (Trudy).  A full schedule of activities was planned by Jan and Lee – early arrivals met Thursday night for dinner, then the group got together on Thursday and visited antique shops in Phoebus with lunch at a local Mexican restaurant.  Then they went to Fort Monroe to the Casemate Museum followed by dinner at Jan and Dave’s.   Friday, the group went to Colonial Williamsburg, touring the gardens and seeing pipe and drum corps demonstrations. Jan, Chris and Judy took a carriage ride around the town.  Dinner was at Shield’s Tavern.  Saturday involved more touring –late morning harbor cruise, featuring a stop at the island fortress Fort Wool; followed by a ride on the Hampton Carousel,  where several members had fun riding the ponies.  Lunch was at the Barking Dog.  Sunday, the envoys went to Yorktown and Jamestown while the sisters enjoyed their Founder’s Day celebrations.  Lee made the goodie bags for attending members and everyone contributed to the “fillers”.    A great time was had by all.

Installation of Officers:  The 2018-2019 Officers were installed, with everyone taking their oath of office.
