Online Xi currently has sixteen members. We had two visitors to the October meeting: Anna S. and Janet R.

We've had a lot going on in the last couple of months since Cyber Council last met.

The technology committee members are revamping the yearbook pages. They are also working on trying to get our website back up and running.

We've also started a book club. The first book we are reading together is A Christmas Wish by Joseph Pittman. We are currently making up a tentative schedule for next year's books and have developed a list of topics for the discussions of each book.

In September, we visited Mayberry Days in Mount Airy, North Carolina. We toured many of the local establishments there, including Opie's Candy Shop, Wally's Service Station, the Mount Airy Museum of Regional History, and the Andy Griffith Museum. We also got to hear Karen Knotts share memories of her father, Don Knotts, and we attended a Doug Dillard Tribute Concert at the Andy Griffith Playhouse. (Doug Dillard and his brothers --"The Dillards" --portrayed the Darlings on The Andy Griffith Show.) We ate a lot of wonderful food at our social, including a pork chop sandwich at The Snappy Lunch and barbecue from the NC Championship Barbecue Cook-off.

In October, we visited the Oktoberfest in Helen, Georgia. In addition to eating lots of good food and listening to great polka music, we visited a lot of shops. We also toured Babyland General, home of the Cabbage Patch Kids. Another place we visited on our trip was Scarlett's Secret, a museum in a large plantation-style home that is dedicated to Gone with the Wind and Civil War memorabilia. The highlight of our trip, though, was our picnic in Unicoi State Park. We got to see the beautiful Anna Ruby Falls. We also admired the spectacular leaves in all their autumn glory.

We had two wonderful programs in October. Elaine held a fascinating but scary program on haunted houses/places, and Dana F. held an enlightening program on dental implants (a continuation of the August meeting's program.)

Congratulations go out to two of our sisters that completed their degree programs: Christina H, for completing her Bachelor of Science in Education, and Tina, for completing her Master of Arts in Forensic Psychology.

Congratulations also go out to Tina for raising almost $600 for the JDRF Walk to Cure Diabetes!

The past couple of months have been sad ones for OLT. We lost Marcia. I presided over the memorial ritual for her. I used the beautiful one that Dianne K did for on liners to use. Members of OLT had a lighted candle and yellow rose by their computers as we participated in the ritual. At the request of the family, members sent donations to our treasurer to be sent to International in honor of Marcia for the scholarship fund.

We were still grieving Marcia's loss when we learned of Carolyn W's passing. Carolyn was a member of OLT for several years and did a wonderful job as recording secretary.

On a happier side, two of our members, Mair and Carolyn H, will be receiving their Laureate degrees this month. We are so proud of them.

Our book club has been busy. Our chairman, Sharon, decided to focus on one book a month with a member choosing the month and the book for that month. In Sept, we enjoyed Joanne Fluke's Cream Puff Murder and in Oct, we read Life on the Line by Grant Achatz.

Since its founding, OLT has clicked at the service sites starting way back in 1999, with greyhound rescue then morphing into the breast cancer site _http://www.thebreastcancersite.com/clickToGive/home.faces?siteId=2_ (http://www.thebreastcancersite.com/clickToGive/home.faces?siteId=2) where we click on all 8 sites. Most on line chapter use this for a service project and it is probably one of the best. I have most of my lc clicking on the sites.

For Founder's Day, OLT is planning something different next April. Since - like most on line chapters - we are scattered everywhere but we kind of come down to 5 regions. So we are going to do regional Founder's Day gatherings in order for more of us to meet in person. A friend of mine who lives in one of the 'Stans' works in the oil industry and uses Skype a lot for conferences. Geoff is helping me see if this is a viable way for OLT to connect our five gatherings into one. More of us getting to see the other ones. Right now, I don't know how many are on Skype. Dan and I love it. Visiting with friends in Australia, or Geoff, etc., etc;.

The members of our group have been busy as seems to be the case for us. Some of the times have been happy: several have been travelling, having family members visit and harvesting goodies from their gardens and trees. Some have been sad: some health concerns, loss of family members and a couple of sisters affected by the severe weather on the east coast. Through it all our group has been in contact with one another for support and encouragement.

Our chapter is sponsoring our first Legacy, little Charlotte, the daughter of long time member of OLK, Erica. We have one sister receiving her Ritual of Jewels level, Michelle and two sisters receiving the Exempler level, Colette and Rhonda. We have had a couple of ladies visit with us and have enjoyed their company.

As is our tradition, we have enjoyed our monthly programs and our socials too. We have been focusing on the theme of friendship for our programs. Of course the socials always involve a new destination and wonderful food. We have some excellent writers in our group who make us feel like we are together.

>From the sisters of OLK, we hope the approaching holidays bring joy to each of you!

Respectfully submitted,

Mary

Our chapter voted and installed new officers for the coming year:

Tanya - Moderator/President; Cherie - VP; Hollie -Sec ; Julie -Treas

Members signed up for programs for the coming yr with Program chair Ingrid Hartman. Ingrid asked us to think about using the BSP theme

And tie in also something "odd, unusual or unique" for our programs. There will be a program of the yr with a prize. She will do the first program for us this weekend. We will have discussion following the program.

We had discussion about creating a Facebook page for our chapter to be able to introduce rush ideas and get some new members. We have 10 members active now. Some members do not want their names or info put up on Facebook. Others will participate.

Our special sister program chair Michelle G asked for the names of those participating so she can make the prs by the next meeting.

We all were relieved to hear the news that our member Hollie, who lives in New Orleans, did not have any significant damage from Hurricane Isaac and only lost power for a short time. Prayers were sent for other sisters that may have suffered greater damage around the country.

Our Reading club is reading for Sept: John Grisham’s, ‘The Litigator’s’. Aug was the book by Marie “Ree” Smith, ‘The pioneer woman, from heels to tractor wheels & July was "I Got This" by Jennifer Hudson.

OnL ine Kappa (OLK) officers are elected for a two year t erm; we find it difficult to have enough volunteers for the officer positions each year . The officers for 2012-2014 are President, Marilyn ; Vice President, Nancy ; Recording Secretary, Michelle (she was appointed, and later installed, after our RS resigned); Corresponding Secretary, Bonnie Weaver; Treasurer, Carrie. With the exception of our RS, these also were the officers for 2010-2012.

Our other Cyber Council reps are Karen and Mary .

Currently, we have 18 members, with a cap of 25 - 1 Pledge , 3 Ritual of Jewels , 6 Exemplar , 4 Preceptor , 3 Laureate , 1 Master; o ur chapter is a composite of young moms, profess ional women working away from home, professional women working from home, grandmas and even one great-grandma.

We have two programs each month, followed by a wonderful social, and our meetings are nearly always attended by 100% of our members. Our programs during the last few months have been Peaches in Texas; My Taekwondo Journey: Finding Friendship, Confidence and Fitness; Long Distance Friendships; the War of 1812. I read with interest one of Val's program topics, "What Beta Sigma Phi Means to Me", when we joined and why. This was a thought-provoking question sent out to our membership, since International asks this question of members, too. It wasn't as well-received by a few of our sisters as I had hoped, and shortly thereafter, two members resigned. But they have moved on to another online chapter, where I'm sure they hope they're not again asked this question .

Our socials have taken us to such places as St. Louis, MO; the Oregon coast; Crater Lake in Oregon; a tea-house in Kansas City, MO; a train trip to Reno, NV; a limo ride to a wine festival on the California coast - most all of these included great pictures and we all felt we were right there enjoying our time with our sisters.

Kappa and Beta Hugs,

Marilyn

Officers are:

Sunni - President

Cindy - Vice President

Elise - Recording Secretary

Regina- Corresponding Secretary

We have 25 members and our mascot is the Swan.

Recently, we have been discussing ways to become closer. Some of our ideas are to do a "day in the life", doing pictures and sharing what a typical day is in our life. We can take that information and put it into a "yearbook" of sorts to share with the group. Additionally, one of our members mentioned screen printing shirts for us and another wants to do a "pen-pal" of sorts. We have a handful of international members so doing it quarterly would save on postage costs.

Finally, we have a Facebook page that we are active on that is just for OLO.
