On Line Beta

Hello Sisters,

Over the summer months OLB had a lot of members on vacation. We have enjoyed sharing photos our travels and visits with family and friends. During the month of July we celebrated independence and freedom. Our program topic covered "Freedom" and what it means to us. For our social we boarded the Beta Bus and traveled to the states of Massachusetts, Nebraska and Washington D.C. We also broadened our knowledge of independence and how it is celebrated both here in the US and in Canada. Recipes and crafts for the month were ones we could use for summer cookouts. I never realized there were so many ways to make hot dogs.

For our August program we discussed the desire to learn more, to reach higher. We found that many of our members are working on higher degrees. We didn't stop at formal education, as many of our members are also learning new ways to do things, to understand our world as it is today. We are advancing in the world of knowledge; and keeping young at heart in the process of a life time of learning. For our social, we took a little vacation on our Beta Bus to the states of Michigan, New Mexico, Ohio, Mississippi, and Georgia where we learned about the top vacation spots in those areas. Our social committee kept us well entertained and well fed on our trip.

Pledge training for Lisa is almost complete and plans are underway for her Ritual of Jewels. We welcomed another member to OLB over the summer.

Now for the greatest news...OLB is a 3-Star Chapter. We are listed in the September/October edition of the TORCH on page 60. We also congratulate our sisters of On Line Theta for their 3-Star rating. Way to go!!!

OLAP has had a very quite month. I suppose many are in the throws of first day of school with themselves or children or in Johannah's case, both! The others are busy with last vacations at the end of summer.

The new officers are settling into some comfort zone with their new jobs and making much needed additions to their job descriptions. This appears to have been an unsual summer of unexpected rains for those of us who are use to HOT, DRY weather. Others fought wild fires or flooding. Even unusually hot weather in areas that are not accustome to needing Air Conditioners. All have come through this however, safe and sound.

Our past President, Julie was elected our Woman of the Year for 2007 and honored with a Bar for Online to go on her badge. Congratulations Julie!

The Program for our August Meeting by Gloria Gardner was on U.S. National Parks and how many we have personally visited and any information we remembered or learned from it. Also, we talked about which in our visits were our favorite. WE once again shared a perfect attendence by all 12 of our members. New "Special Sisters" will be drawn in Sept for the year.

Yours in cyber space,

Marianne
