Sharing Reports - September 2006

On Line Beta

The 97th meeting of OLB began on Sunday, August 6, 2006 at 3 PM and was adjourned on Tuesday, August 8 at 10 PM. Here are some of the highlights:

In July we voted to donate $10 to the Disaster Relief Fund. The Executive Board presented a Petition for Charter for OLB in . A motion to amend the petition was voted on and passed. Our committees have been outstanding this year. Following our regular business reports from the committee chairs, The August program and social were announced.

The August program asked us to share the beginning days and socials that our land chapters have had, so that everyone could benefit from the ideas. The social committee invited us all to a `Sing Along' for our August. This was a fun idea, following the notes and music on line! In June the program committee asked us to take time to smell the roses. We shared our favorite books and authors. In July the program was "What do the Opening and Closing Rituals mean to me. Our social for June was "A Night at the Drive-In" and in July, "A Day at the Fair" which was a Cyber Fair that included a parade, a musical ride, the midway and food sampling.

That's it for this report. I hope everyone has a great month of September!

On Line Sigma

On July 14th to July 17th, On Line Sigma had it's annual reunion. It was held in Muskegan, Michigan this year with as many members attending as could come. Those who could not attend were treated to lots of fun emails and 111 pictures. Sharon Long had lots of interesting and fun things planned and was a great hostess.

June Program was "A Sentimental Walk Down Route 66" Then in July our Program was about something BSP's love...shopping. Members shared their shopping habits, favorite stores, sites and bargains spots. August Program was "75 Years Young". Our Program committee presented us with a timetable of BSP events found on the "Strawberry Patch". This was assembled by Marilyn Ross in chronological order. OLS members then added their own personal BSP events to the list.

The theme of our social was "History of the American Flag" . We had several sites of interest to check out and we had some original (virtual) Philly Cheese Steak sandwiches.

On-Line-Sigma meetings start at 8AM (EST) on the 3rd Wednesday of each month closing on the following Wednesday at 10PM (EST). Our first meeting was held on June 16th to June 20th, 1999. Membership is capped at 30 with a waiting list available.

OLE is proud to introduce a new member, Betty Williams. Bett brings our membership to 24, but we are always open to new sisters who are currently Beta Sigma Phis. Our new officers have been working hard all summer revising our bylaws and struggling with the issue of chartering with International or not. We have elected to remain unchartered for now. We did revise our calendar to fit in with Cyber Council this year. OLE does not have a set meeting schedule. We operate on a continuous sharing basis with programs and conversations posted monthly. With the arrival of fall, we are looking forward to a fun year of sharing and caring.

On Line Theta

Online Theta #OL 108 has held two business meetings since our last report as well as meeting, virtually, for our first Beginning Day since becoming a chartered online chapter. Members “met” at president Charlene’s home in Chiloquin, Oregon (near Klamath Falls) and enjoyed barbeque ribs and the perfect weather there.

In late July, OLT gave the Ritual of Jewels ritual to Christina. It was a lovely ceremony! Christina recently joined a land chapter as well in Bartlesville, Oklahoma. Our prayers for Christina’s job were answered when she started work in a new position. Congratulations to Christina!

OLT has concluded our review of bylaws, standing rules and traditions. We updated and revised a few of them and voted to accept them at this month’s meeting.

We are still playing bingo. We have had fun learning about scrapbooking and the state of North Carolina. A new bingo “round” starts soon.

OLT book club readers enjoyed Janet Evanovich’s Stephanie Plum series in July by reading her latest, “Eleven on Top”. We read some member suggested authors in August. Several authors were new to some readers so there were some new favorite authors added to our book shelves and shared books sent and received.

We enjoyed programs on stress one month. Everyone has some stress! We discussed ways of handling it. One month the program was on wine. Possible health benefits of wine were discussed. Maybe we should combine what we learned with these two programs and see what happens!

Our prayer list remains long. Polly, in League City, Tx., is still very ill. In August, OLT sent her birthday cards as well as “get well” cheer. Juanita’s daughter Gael is very ill in Florida and now has in home hospice care. Susan’s mother in Florida is beginning chemo. Judy’s brother is still taking chemo treatments. Marcia is still not at full strength. Roxanne was denied disability recently and we are praying for her financial difficulties. Many prayers and bubbles are sent out on Wednesdays, our special bubble day.

OLT meetings are held the first week of each month beginning on Sunday and ending Saturday. We use a closed site for meetings accessible to members only, but welcome visitors and those sisters who want to make up a meeting. Send an e-mail request to visit a meeting to Vice President Sharon at okbyeme@aol.com to be added to our list.

We welcomed a new member to our OLK sorority last month and she jumped right in and took over our Service Chair as we just had a vacancy of that position.

Nancy Gardner is the new President of OLK as of the first of August.

Our program concerned black squirrels that were introduced to the zoo in Washington, D.C. but now can be seen in a very large area around D.C. Following the program many members shared with all of us information about black squirrel sightings in their locations.

Beginning Day was our social for the month. We all enjoyed a great virtual get together to start off our new sorority year.
