Hello Sister, I hope that this summer is being kind to you. Hopefully if you live in one of the active disaster areas you and your families are safe and coping. A great many of our sisters are travelling, attending State and International Conventions, volunteering, gardening and otherwise enjoying the good things summer brings.

Norma is chairing our Program Committee this year and we are beginning travel to many exciting destinations. June saw us visiting Myanmar and July was Pakistan so the year is starting out with a bang. Judy Rosefield is helping us celebrate each month with special events like Barbecues and Picnics, and Evelyn Brandby is chairing our Social Committee. Michele Kriske is theming each attendance poll with cities our members live in and si far we have visited Victoria, British Columbia, Canada, and San Jose, California.

Our Service Committee led by Hilda has been busy donating time and/or fund to the betterment of our communities.

Our May and June attendance counted 98% present with 39/40 and 40/41 member present respectively. In May we welcomed the addition of Pat, MAL Raleigh NC Laureate Mu.

We are happy and excited to be involved with Cyber Council again, and for the first time in many years our Chapter is completing the yardstick again.

Hello and Happy Summer to everyone. With the warm days of summer come vacations, travel and conventions. Many of our OLB sisters have attended conventions over the past few weeks. Eleven of our members traveled to Missoula, MT for an online gathering a couple of days before the start of the MT State Convention. A great time was had by all. Laura Ross Wingfield was our guest from International and we enjoyed spending time with her.

Speaking of travel, our Social Committee has taken us to more foreign lands. Our social in May was a Royal Garden Party in Holland. We were received by Queen Beatrix and for entertainment heard the stories of Ann Frank, Hans Brinker, the Boy Who Wanted More Cheese and The Flying Dutchman. We also tried dancing to the Tulips and Windmills. In June, we traveled to Russia where we met Catherine the Great, toured the Hermitage, and visited St Petersburg for White Nights (when the sun is out for twenty four hours). Our transportation was the Troika---a three horse sleigh. We ate Russian food and had a terrific time!

Our Program topics for May and June centered on making life around our homes easier and safer. The topic for our May Program was Household Hints. The Program Committee found all sorts of household hints and cooking tips to help us in everyday chores from how to arrange our kitchen and shop for various foods to cooking and cleaning tips. Our June topic was “To Chill Or Not To Chill. Guidelines were shared for food safety which listed foods that should be frozen or refrigerated and how long to safely leave them out of the refrigerator.

Since May was National Military Appreciation Month, our Service Committee shared websites that listed ways for us to honor our military members both in the US and Canada. And in June, we found we could manage our busy, often hectic lives and reduce stress levels by following 10 simple tips.

We recognized 47 members of OLB at our May meeting who had perfect attendance for the past year. Our June meeting ended on a somber note with the memorial ritual for Shirley who passed away from a massive heart attack in May. Her memorial can be viewed at our web site at the following address: http://www.cawamn.com/OnLineBeta/shirley.html

On Line Eta

On Line Eta's web site has moved.

Here's our new website address:

http://oleta.100webspace.net

The Eta Executive Board has a new mail list on Yahoo, and they will meet Sept., Dec., March and June - 4 days prior to each general meeting to help get things better organized in the chapter and hopefully more membership participation.

A social committee is being set up and bylaws committee. The book club is being re-opened since it was abandoned by another member.

Members that have gone inactive for more than a year were written to and given a month to respond back before being removed from the chapter records. The roster and record keeping were getting confusing without an accurate count of the members.

On average the Eta chapter gets 21 out of 30 members to participate at least by sending one E-mail at meeting time to the List.

We are working on several service projects that the sisters can just *_click and give_* to at no cost to them.

Patrice suggested we do a seasonal newsletter.

OLETA's article appeared in the May/June Torch. Betty has written another article to use in a future issue.

We have welcomed 2 new members since the year began. Alice joined the chapter at the end of May, 2008 from Virginia, and Rebecca joined the chapter around the middle of April, 2008 from Texas.

We can't get Alice on to the Yahoo Groups mail list, and she has white listed the Yahoo address on her end. Something is blocking her from joining Yahoo. Any suggestions would be appreciated as to why or what to do? -- Thanks, Karen

We have two visiting sister this month to make up missing their lc meetings. And we had one visiting sister in May.

We have a new tradition in our chapter and it is only one sister from a land chapter can be a member (if they have dual memberships)of our chapter. And it applies to only one member per family also.

We also had a real and virtual Founder's Day in San Antonio, TX. It was a great success. Discussion of locations for 2009 Founder's Day event has already started.

We've also got our programs and socials planned for the up comming year. And for our service we had a total of 1,902 service clicks and several went to the free rice site and did some amazing clicks and increased their volcabulary while they did their clicks.

We have our Special Sisters taken care of. We also have our weekly prayer and bubbles list going.
