Sharing Reports - July, 2007

On Line Beta

Hello Sisters,

OLB has some exciting events to share from the past couple months. Since our last Sharing Report, we enjoyed finding out how chapters and city councils in different areas celebrated Founder's Day. We also shared in the joy and excitement of our OLB members who were voted Woman of the Year for their land chapters and city councils. We welcomed two new members, Marta from KS and Shellie from CO. We also have one visitor with us now, Kathy Gleason who has recently moved from VA to WA.

At our May meeting we conducted the Affirmation Ritual for Andrea Fechner's first year anniversary in Beta Sigma Phi and in June we conducted the Exemplar Ritual for Marta Christie and Cathy Hilden. Rituals on line can be a challenge but can also be a meaningful and beautiful event. We have conducted the Affirmation Ritual, Pledge Ritual, Ritual of Jewels and Exemplar Ritual over the past year. We also recognized 37 OLB members who had perfect attendance at OLB meetings.

Our Recipe/Craft Committee posted a super idea for a gift for Mother's Day in May. There were many creative ideas for gift baskets. These could also be used for many different celebrations, not just Mother's Day. Scrumptious recipes were also posted to help us make this a truly wonderful day. In June, Charlotte posted recipes for a complete Father's Day celebration. Recipes covered an entire meal from Punch to Desserts.

For our May social, Mary and her traveling crew revved up the Beta Bus again and we were off to visit the states of Kansas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, North Carolina,South Carolina and Tennessee where we sampled the flavors of favorite BBQ's, visited special places and learned lots of facts and figures about each state. June's social was geared toward honeymoons and that perfect "getaway" spot. The Bus was outfitted with pontoons to travel to Hawaii and float back to the mainland for touring the states of Alabama, New York, Nevada, West Virginia, New Jersey and Maryland. We sampled food, played some fun games and visited some wonderful hideaway places. We enjoyed sharing honeymoon memories and photos.

Speaking of memories...for our May Program members shared scrap booking and rubber stamping tips, ideas and favorite web sites. We sure have a lot of creative, talented members in our group. The topic for our June program was "Dream Vacations" where we'd go and what we'd do once we got there.

A couple months ago I mentioned that OLB is having a gathering in September in San Antonio TX. I will send the particulars in a separate email. We'd love to have you join us.

We had 4 guests Carole, Karen, Raven and Bonnie. Vice-President Doris read the level of degrees from the book of Beta Sigma Phi and next meeting she will start the definitions of each degree.

OLK now has the ability to make up meetings with other online chapters. Vice President Doris announced that Bonnie Weaver is our new member and the chapter welcomed her. OLK contributed to the BSP Emergency Fund. Renee presented the program about Thomas C. Williams, Jr. In 1925 he purchased the Tudor style mansion in Lancaster, England. He completely dismantled it and reassembled it in Richmond, Va. To see more go to www.agecrofthall.com Renee and Erica hosted our social brunch and the food looked and was delicious. Bagels, Scones, assortment of muffins,Praline French Toast Casserole, Quiches and Punch. They also had us do a brain teaser of fractured words. Very challenging. Mill can hum knee = Milk and Honey. Jag kin chill = Jack and Jill

Respectfully submitted,

OLE will have a short report this month. We really haven't done much since our last Sharing Report. Most of our members are on vacation and a couple are in the middle of moving. Summer for all of us is a laid back time and not much happens. Families and activities seem to take a front row seat to computer time. Our Executive Board will be meeting during these months to review our bylaws and suggest new and improved ways of doing things within our chapter. We have had but one program since our last report, but it was extremely informative. The June program was The Organ - fitting right in with our new theme of "Sing a Song of Friendship". We learned many informative things about organs and how they work.

Respectfully,

On Line Lambda

Online Lambda has both increased and decreased during the past year. At present we have room for new members.

Recently we had elections and installation for the following: Bette, President; Barbara, Vice President; Dianne, Recording Secretary; Ann, Treasurer; Dottie, Corresponding Secretary. Congratulations to these new officers. OLLs vote for Woman of the Year is Joella Toppi, who is also our resident motorcyclist.

We have chosen the lovely Ann Huff to represent us as Valentine Princess. And she is quite a sweetheart. Last, but not least, our P.A.C.E. Award recipient is also our new Diamond Circle member, a very astonished and grateful Joella

On Line Sigma

Summer is half over. Mother Nature has been busy with rain and floods and fires across the US and Beta Sigma Phi's have been busy with summer activities too. On Line Sigma had a "gathering" in Indianapolis prepared by a great hostess, Theresa. Those who could not attend and enjoy all the sites, good foods, sisters.....were kept abreast of the activities by email and there were lots of pictures shared with everyone.

July's Social was "Let's Talk Picnic".Members shared their stories of picnics past and present along with some sites of interest and recipes. June's Social was a virtual trip to beauiful Colorado. The Program for June was "Father's Day". It was easy to enjoy various sites about that special man in our life and member's stories. The Program for July was another great holiday.....th 4th of July in the US and Canadian Day. After learning more about each holiday, members shared how their families celebrate.

We sponsored On Line Sigma's first Legacy....Alia granddaughter of our President this year Sharon Long. We have another Legacy in our chapter after her Mom became a member of OLS and Arika, daughter of April was already a Legacyl. We are proud of our young ladies.

July ended on a very sad note when we lost Maureen Urquhart. She had been sick for some time and is at peace now, but we will miss her very much. Sheila made up a nice ritual page for Maureen. She was a member of Ontario Laureate Alpha Onicron as well as OLS.

On Line Alpha Phi

OnLine Alpha Phi also have gained and lost members this last year. At one point we were two short of having maxed our limit. We stand at this point with 12 members and 8 open slots for new members. I'm sure with all the other chapters it is the same. We tend to be a little laid back and less strict. This for some is JUST WHAT THEY WANTED. For others it's a little too lain back and not structured enough. That is classic BSP sisterhood. We enjoy all who come and those that go and understand we are not all to everyone.

Our new officers were installed online in May 2007. Kathy is our Moderator/Pres., Hollie is VP, Julie is temporary Secretary, and Cherie is our Treasurer. For the first time the chapter is enjoying having their Founder and Past Moderator and Secretary, Mariann aka OkieSis an Advisory to the OLAP ladies.

Our Valentine Queen is Ingrid Hartman. Our Cyber Council Reps are Julie Pickel who is also Cyber Council Pres., Mariann Chance and Cherie read all the responses to what our sisters learned and how it relates to their memories of the past. Each month we have a meeting the last Friday of the month for one week. An agenda is posted after the opening ritual, secretary posts minutes of the last meeting, treasurer report and then program and cyber council report. We have a special sister program so that we can get better acquainted with our online sisters.

Yours in cyber space,

Marianne
