On Line Theta

OL #108, has had a busy few months. OLT was proud to receive our charter from International in time for our Founders Day celebration. President, Arlene and Web Mistress, Roxanne, collaborated for OLT’s first Founders Day. Members met virtually on Mackinaw Island, Michigan at the Grand Hotel. Generous OLT sisters donated door prizes, enough that everyone who attended received a door prize in the mail. Founder’s Day was marvelous and enjoyed by all members who attended as well as Arlene’s birth sister, Judy, who visited us. Judy was unable to attend Founder’s Day in South Dakota due to knee replacement surgery. There were many reports of land chapter Founder’s Day celebrations to enjoy as well.

OLT held election of officers in April and had installation in May. OLT officers for 2006-2007 are:

President: Charlene
Vice President: Sharon
Recording Secretary: Marti
Corresponding Secretary: Roxanne
Treasurer: Juanita
Cyber Council representative: Judy

OLT elected our first Woman of the Year as an official chapter in April. Arlene received this honor.

Our newest member, Christina, studied with VP, Charlene, and took the Pledge Test. Christina made 100% on the test and is now eligible for Ritual of Jewels. OLT plans to give Christina the ritual soon. We’re so proud of Christina!

OLT has had several good discussion programs in the last few months including our fond memories of Founder’s Days past, favorite cookies complete with new recipes shared and the various collections of our members. OLT continues to play bingo with recent “rounds” of flower children re-visited, Okie bingo and Texas bingo.

Our book club for the new year is off to a good start with books by Dan Brown and a good discussion of “The Davinci Code”. This past month, members have been reading David Baldacci books.

Recently, we have enjoyed newsletters posted by Envoy, Dan Fox, from Guatemala. Dan had another wonderful study trip and took all of us in OLT along! Dan visited a children’s foster home while there and told us of their need for books. OLT sisters wanted to be included in Dan’s personal project of buying books for the children. After the books were supplied, Dan purchased other needed items for the foster home. Dan paid for a website set up as well so others will be aware of the needs of these children. OLT is very proud of Dan and glad that we were able to make his project our own for the month of June.

OLT’s prayer list has been long lately. Polly remains very ill and in ICU part of the time. Several members are recouperating from illiness as are several Mom’s of members. Juanita’s daughter, Gael is ill. Judy’s brother was diagnosed with cancer. Christina lost her job and has been studying for a new career in real estate. Roxanne still awaits a verdict on her disability hearing. Susan’s husband had a mild heart attack. Viv M’s husband is still ill. Charlene’s father passed away in California. Marti has been involved in rigorous job training. Wednesday remains OLT’s “bubble day” when bubbles are blown and special prayers for those on our list are said.

Parliamentarian, Arlene and the Executive board have been reviewing OLT bylaws, standing rules and traditions. Proposed changes are being presented at this month’s meeting.

Respectfully submitted,

On Line Kappa

In June we had an informative program on the many uses and benefits of cucumbers which can be easily grown in a home garden. The program included recipes, beauty tips and home remedies.

Our Social celebrated our 6 years as an On-Line Sorority. Two of our members hosted an inter-chapter luncheon in honor of the Online Kappa’s Sixth Anniversary on June 30, 2006. Several online chapters sent their good wishes.

Thank you to those online chapters who contributed to our Social. It made it very special.

Since we have two sisters who live in Texas, our Program for July celebrated the Great State of Texas. Many new facts about the state came to light and a brief history was included. The program ended with the Cowboy 10 Commandments which can be found on the wall of a church in Waco, Texas.

Our Social for this month was sharing Summer Dessert Recipes. Our hostess started us off with 2 yummy recipes and asked the rest of us to contribute a recipe, also. Lots of fun recipes were then exchanged.
