The past couple months have been busy ones for OLB. We have completed our review of our By Laws and Standing Rules and all changes have been voted on and updated on our website.

March was an exciting time for some of our members as we traveled to Charleston SC to sample some southern hospitality for our 2009 OLB Gathering. We ate, shopped, toured the city, shopped and ate some more. We also conducted the Preceptor Ritual for Madonna.

Speaking of rituals, we have conducted a few lately. the Welcome Ritual in May for Elaine, Violet and Ramona; the Preceptor Ritual for Janette and AngieS in April. We ended our April meeting on a somber note with the Memorial Ritual for Linda Pugh who passed away on March 20th. Memorial for Linda can be viewed at: http://www.cawamn.com/OnLineBeta/lindapugh.html

Elections were held at our March meeting and officers were installed at our May meeting. Officers for 2009-2010 are:

President - Dorothy

Vice President - Karen H

Secretary - Dianne

Treasurer - Madonna

Our March social was a dinner in Ireland at the residence of The Master and Mrs. Flaherty of Drogheda Castle. It was a dinner with a mystery/suicide; written by Gail and produced by Valerie. April social was on Thursday, April 30th. We celebrated Founder's Day on line. It can be viewed on our website at:

http://www.cawamn.com/OnLineBeta/foundersday/fd09welcome.html

We are proud to announce that Madonna is our Woman of the Year. Madonna is our Treasurer and stepped in to chair the Program Committee.

Our Program in March was on Women who helped pioneer our history. "Spring blooms in April " was the topic for our April program. Information on different flower gardens and plants was shared. Since April was also Poetry month, we shared flower poems and pictures. During our May program discussion on Family Heritage, we found that several of our members are not just sorority sisters but also are distant cousins. Information on websites and places to get information on tracing our family tree was presented.

RobinP shared recipes in March and Joy shared a cute paper Easter basket as our craft. Vince, our Charleston mystery guest, shared old family recipes. In April, Julia shared some delicious Easter recipes and the directions for making an adorable butter lamb, complete with pictures of the one she and her granddaughter made. We all got a "bonus" this month as Dianne also shared her recipe for Baked Finnish Haddie which she'd sampled on a recent trip.

Service Committee shared info on Osteoporosis and bone health at our April meeting. Since May is Skin Cancer Awareness Month we learned that not all sunglasses are created equal, the meaning behind SPF ratings on sunscreen, how long to keep old opened containers of sunscreen was discussed at our May meeting.

This about sums up our past couple months. Our Executive Board is busy now coordinating plans for the upcoming year.

Executive for 2009-2010 are President Susan, Vice President Evelyn, Secretary Lisa

Programs in recent months have given us the opportunity to learn about remote places and their people with Cote d'Ivorie, Comoros Islands, Djibouti & Eritrea being some of the locations. Because we have had such challenging topics in the past 12 months there is a poll running to see if our members would prefer

The first idea is twelve questions (one per month) that will allow us to get to know each other better

The second is to sign up for a month like KK and talk about an adventure you had which follow the theme of this year - "Share our Passport to Adventure".

For SERVICE this month Hilda has promoted joining the SHELTERING SISTERS program. In addition she has reminded us to BE GOOD TO YOURSELF. We perform better all round and enjoy life a lot more when we manage to make time for ourselves as well as others.

The sheltering sisters applies just as well to Australian sisters as it does to those in other parts of the world. We still have families living in tents in Victoria more than three months after the Bush Fires. Victorian winters can be very cold and damp.

Our President Susan was very deservedly voted Woman of the Year. Sue needs a medal as she has agreed to be president for yet another year.

Our on-Line Founder's Day celebration was presented by Evelyn via 5 emails supported with input contributed by other members. This was followed by sharing of Founder's day activities attended by those sisters in land chapter.

Rejoining Cyber Council - A pole for approval from our chapter members to rejoin Cyber Council is being voted on at our chapter meeting as I write this report. I am fairly sure the motion will be carried and hope to be able to confirm that before the Cyber Council meeting ends. Bobbi has agreed to be the contact displayed on the Cyber Council web site for enquiries relevant to OLD.

Social events have been rather good fun. We all attended a virtual Nascar Racing event in USA and the following month members were collected from their homes and transported on a magic carpet for a Virtual Train Ride on The Mary Valley Rattler steam train from Gympie to Imbul and back. This was supplemented with a few Smile Box scrapbooks showing items of interest en route.

Membership has seen two long standing members resign and a former member return to active membership. We now have a membership of 39 and with a cap of 45. We would welcome enquiries from prospective members.

KK this month had members sharing a culdoscope of memories about Mother's Day celebrations.

OLD also celebrated its 11th Birthday at the start of our monthly meeting on the 11th May.

We were rather excited to have Bobbi's article featured in the Torch. A photo of Theral's husband accompanied with an interesting article also featured in that publication when he judged the Valentines Queen.

Old members look forward to being members instead of just observers of Cyber Council in the very near future.

Our congratulations and best wishes for an excellent year ahead to all the executive and representatives who will be serving on Cyber Council 2009-2010.

OLP is pleased to announce that our pledge, Laurie, has passed all of her pledge requirements. We will have her Ritual of Jewels ceremony at a time yet to be decided. Since our last Cyber Council meeting, Kathy retired and moved to Mesa, Arizona in April. Laurie received recognition for 30 years as an employee of New York State. Kimberly had knee replacement surgery on April 17th. Vikki N. had surgery on May 4th. Charlotte had surgery on May 7th. On a lighter side, Cindy left for a cruise to Alaska on May 11th.

MEMBERSHIP: This year our membership has grown. We currently have 17 active members and are continuing to accept new members.

PROGRAMS: In April, Marcia presented an interesting program about International and posted photos of her visit with staff members at BSP headquarters. In an effort to meet BSP's requirement of 12-18 programs a year, I presented two programs-on-the-shelf. One was the Beauty of Nature. The other was a slide show of pets and animals.

ELECTION OF OFFICERS: We elected our new officers for 2009-2010 and held our Installation of Officers on May 6th: President: Pam M. Vice President: Marcia H. Recording Secretary: Vicki T. Corresponding Secretary: Kathy S. Treasurer: Cheryl K. Congratulations to our new officers and best wishes for another great year!

FOUNDERS DAY: On April 30th, our chapter announced our Woman of the Year 2009 ...Rose. I am humbled by the honor and thank all my sisters in OLP for their friendship and support this year.

Theta has been very busy! We have welcomed another new member, Sheri from Oregon. This past year we have added 8 new members. We have a cap of 25 and are approaching the cap.. We have a visitor who may join us.

We had a wonderful Founder's Day! We flew to Mexico City and Taxco, Mexico to celebrate the day. We honored Bill Ross at the Basilica of the Lady of Guadalupe in Mexico City. We sent in recipes and one of our members, Carolyn W, compiled the recipes into a cookbook which she mailed to each of us along with book marks as Founder's Day favors. Roxanne and her committee planned a wonderful picnic for us at Alejandro Humboldt National Park Sheri V who was visiting OLT then and is now a member, helped me find web sites for our Mexico locations.

Also at Founder's Day, we installed our new officers. Carolyn H, who you will remember as last year's moderator of cyber council is now president of OLT, Patricia E - vice president, Billie - treasurer, Carolyn W- recording secretary, Krissie E - corresponding secretary.

OLT continues to click daily at the click to give sites. 1,644 clicks were made in the month of April.

Our new program director, Sheri P, has planned the year's programs with presidents, first ladies, and inventions being the topics. We have each chosen a topic. This is new for us - planning the year's programs around specific topics.

We continue to make weekly reports of the books we are reading. We stopped doing it every day as it was 'clogging' the emails, ha! We are all avid readers and enjoy the reviews.

Respectfully submitted,

Arlene
