On Line Beta

OLB continues to work hard and play hard.

In March we held the Pledge Ritual on line for our new pledge Lisa. She is a very enthusiastic sister and we are so glad she joined us. We also welcomed two new members to our group; Angela from CA and Deborah from IL. We are anxiously awaiting the arrival of Angie's legacy member. She found out at a couples baby shower last weekend that she is having a girl. Her hubby knew this from an earlier ultrasound and kept it a secret. The little one's due to arrive sometime during the month of May. Deborah has written a book "Into the Mist - When Someone You Love has Alzheimer's Disease". I saw where OLT had a recent discussion/program on this subject and highly recommend this book to you.

Last month we had two sisters from a LC visit OLB to makeup a meeting they had missed. We enjoyed having them visit with us.

Our very talented Social committee has continued to keep us entertained. For our March social, we climbed aboard the "Beta Bus" along with our Traveling Grapes aka Social Committee and took a wine tour through the states of VA, KY, LA, TX and CA. where we sampled wine and cheese and played games along the way. For our April social, the Beta Bus was parked at the garage for a tune up while we celebrated Founder's Day on line. Our Founder's Day celebration is on our web site. Here is the direct link: http://www.cawamn.com/OnLineBeta/foundersday/fd07welcome.html

During the month of March our Recipe/Craft Committee helped us celebrate St. Patrick's Day. We wore green and posted some delicious recipes to assist our Sisters in having a truly 'green' celebration! At the end of March, Easter recipes with photos, were posted by Sandy. These wonderful Easter edibles were a delight to make and both young and old could join in to create tootsie rolls, bunnies and nests to name just a few.

For our March program - New Season, New Beginnings - members shared projects they wanted to start, classes they wanted to take, relationships to mend etc. The subject for our April program was Gardens. We shared garden tips, photos of our gardens and flowers, and swapped many garden stories. Green thumbs and purple thumbs were welcome.

As the end of April approached and our members attended their respective LC and Council Founder's Day celebrations it was interesting to find how differently things are done in different parts of the country. We look forward to using our new theme this year.

Our program this month in honor of St. Patrick's Day was a virtual tour of Ireland. One of our members was lucky to have been to Ireland in 2002 and she shared some of her favorite places. We learned a lot and saw some very beautiful country.

Our social this month was a vitural trip to the Cincinnati Zoo and Botanical Gardens after which sisters shared their remembrances of zoo's.....local and afar. We saw pictures of some great zoo's which were joined by our many memories.

Election of officers for the new year took place as did their installation. Our new President is Sharon Long, Vice-President - Jan Cannon, Recording Secretary - Eleanor Waite and Corresponding Secretary - Judy Thompkins. Congratulations to all our new officers and many thank you's to the outgoing officers were given.

All who can are making plans for the next OLS Gathering in Indy on July 13th ..... sisters start your motors and get ready for fun.

Don't forget OLS's theme There are Angels among us

On Line Theta

Online Theta has certainly been busy the last few months. Our legacy pledge, Mandee Smalling, moved from Texas to Florida, and she continued to keep up with her pledge training during that period. Online Theta is working on plans for Mandee’s Ritual of Jewels. We are all very excited for her.

Online Theta also welcomed Joan Baker to our group. We are now at 24 strong—just shy of our established 25 member limit. Joan fits in beautifully with our chatty group.

Christina Bates announced that she is expecting a Thanksgiving baby. We are enjoying following her pregnancy and we are hoping she will be able to add a little girl to her mix of two boys.

April found the sisters of OLT preparing for Founder’s Day. Arlene Fox coordinated our Founder’s Day festivities. We selected San Antonio as our getaway destination in hopes of really planning for an OLT get together there sometime next year. Billie Simmons collected recipes submitted by each sister for our Founder’s Day cookbook. Christina Bates worked on a PowerPoint presentation for the Founder’s Day festivities. Each sister received a CD containing the presentation, the cookbook, the nametag, etc.

April also saw the election of officers for the 2007-2008 sorority year. The officers for the upcoming year are as follows:

President: Marti
Vice President: Suzi
Recording Secretary: Christina
Corresponding Secretary: Billie
Treasurer: Judy
Parliamentarian: Charlene

Cyber Council: Judy
Roster: Christina
Program: Billie
Service: Arlene
Special Sisters: Vivian
Web Page: Roxanne
Book Club: Sharon

OLT also voted on our Woman of the Year. It was a close vote—Charlene was selected as our Woman of the Year. Congratulations to Charlene!
