Sharing Reports - Mar/Apr - 2013
Bobbi has been laid up in bed
ill and Brenda was scheduled to present this month's report and is en
route from Florida to Canada.
One of our members uses "Smile Boxes" to share interesting events with
us. A delightful tool which members in other chapters may find
interesting to explore. It started off similar to scrapbooking and is
also able to include video clips.
Our Jan & Feb Book club readings were The Dressmaker of Khair Khana By
Gayle Tzemah Lemmon & "The lost quilter" by Jennifer Chiaverini
Being spread across the world it has been amazing to take note of the
extreme weather conditions our members have experienced -- fires,
floods, cyclones, record breaking heat waves, snow storms and freezing
conditions. Mother nature has dished it out with a vengeance in the past
couple of months.
Programs:
· Discussing our approach to the New Year brought out
fascinatingly diverse traditions and attitudes from our members.
· In March we have shared interesting aspects about the location
each member lives in, and
· last month's program was presented in the format of "You're
Among Friends" The Value of Friendship, Quality of Friendship, Types of
Friendships. Members were then invited to introduce us to some of their
friends - found along your "Highway of Life".
We have one member who is relocating with her teenage children from
Norway to Germany in a high profile position.
A new addition to our chapter is Alison, a school teacher from Virginia
with 2 teenage daughters. Alison also started up a new land chapter in
January.
Ellen's January Service item is worth sharing with sisters in all chapters:-
* Thyroid cancer * On Wednesday, January 2nd, Dr. Oz had a show on the
fastest growing cancer in women, thyroid cancer. It was a very
interesting program and he mentioned that the increase could possibly be
related to the use of dental x-rays and mammograms. He demonstrated that
on the apron the dentist puts on you for your dental x-rays there is a
little flap that can be lifted up and wrapped around your neck. Many
dentists don't bother to use it. Also, there is something called a
"thyroid guard" for use during mammograms. By coincidence, I had my
yearly mammogram yesterday. I felt a little silly, but I asked about the
guard and sure enough, the technician had one in a drawer. I asked why
it wasn't routinely used. Answer: "I don't know. You have to ask for
it." Well, if I hadn't seen the show, how would I have known to ask?
We have had two socials on quilting and stitching. Wow!!! This sure
brought out an awareness of what a talented membership we have. The
sharing was fun and awe inspiring.

Top of the morning! And a Happy St Patrick's Day to all! The Sisters of
On Line Psi send Easter and Passover greetings.
MEMBERSHIP: Kathleen G, a prospective member from Laureate Beta in
Oregon, is visiting our chapter this month. Lib, last month's guest,
decided to join our chapter and received the Welcome Ritual to On Line Psi.
SERVICE: Like most online chapters, we continue to click the Breast
Cancer Site, the Animal Rescue Site and additional sites at the top of
the web
page:http://www.thebreastcancersite.com/clickToGive/home.faces?siteId=2
PROGRAMS: In February Barbara gave a program on 'What sorority sisters
mean during the course of our lives.' The discussion was lively.
SOCIAL: Kathy hosted our February Valentine Social at the 'Inn at Otter
Crest.' Our February meeting and social were held (virtually) at the Inn
and was followed by a delicious dinner and the coronation of our newly
elected Valentine Queen. It was a fun event, and I am honored to be
OLP's Valentine Queen for 2013. Kathy tells me that the 'Inn at Otter
Crest' is a picturesque place that actually exists and that she has been
there. We appreciate the great job Kathy did on the Valentine social.
BOOK CLUB: In February Karen, our book review chairman, discussed 'The
Chronicles of Downtown Abbey.'
RECIPES: In keeping with St Pat's Day and Easter, Kathy has posted the
following recipes: Cabbage Rolls, Homemade Irish Cream and Asparagus-Ham
Roll Ups. Feel free to email me if any of you would like a copy of these
recipes.

Things were quiet the first two months of 2013 in Online Xi. We were all
tired out after the holidays!
In January, Online Xi held a social in St. Augustine. We stayed at the
Hilton Historic Bayfront Hotel and enjoyed visiting such places as the
St. Augustine Alligator Farm Zoological Park, the St. Augustine
Lighthouse, and St. Augustine's Marketplace. Our February 25 social, the
chapter birthday party, was postponed until March 2.
Tricia's January program was about the benefits of singing. Kathryn's
February program was on how to be your own wine steward.
Krissie E was named Valentine Queen for 2013-2014.

Elected new officers in February.
January program was the Shipwrecks of the Victoria, Australia coast.
Quite interesting!
We've lost 2 members over the past 2.5 months, however we have had a
trend of gaining members during the Spring & Summer.
Nothing else to report.

Things have been a little quiet around the OLT fireplace. We basically
sipped hot chocolate with a Bailey's on the side.
One thing that has happened is we have a new member Carol.. She is having
a hard time grasping on line chapter comings and goings but is coming
along find. Such a lovely lady. We are so blessed to have her with us.
Another big Bailey's (it is almost St. Patrick's Day, ha!) goes to our Jean
who received her Laureate degree earlier this month. Our vp Linda did the
lovely ritual and made the laureate and made sure that the pin was at
Jean's before the ritual.
Our book club remains a very active part of OLT/ Another Bailey's toast
to Sharon who makes sure each month has a book presenter who tells us about
the book.
Starting to stagger a little as we have so many 'toastworthy' happenings.
Since the inception of OLT, we have clicked on various charity sites. For
many years that has been the breast cancer site. We support it and the
other seven charities linked to the breast cancer site. A big toast goes
out
to all who do daily clicks - which is most of the cyber council.
As many of you do, we have a web site that Barbara maintains.

A huge toast goes out to our sweetheart, Linda. Linda is a relatively new
member of OLT. I met Linda when she was a member of OLO. She is now an
advisor for OLO.
OLT is accepting new members.
