"This is Halloween! Everybody make a scream!"  What is your favorite Halloween movie?

Do you have trick or treaters where you live? What will you be giving out?  What would your costume be?  Do you decorate for Halloween?   Do you have a holiday special at your house for Halloween?  Looking at my copy of "The Torch" I thought it was lovely that Preceptor Kappa Lambda, Portland made up two pink pumpkins and delivered them to the Radiology Associates in recognition on Breast Cancer Awareness Month. I hope Ohio Gamma Alpha Master, Akron got their halloween candy after vising B.A. Sweetie Candy Company.

In September, Chris M-H presented the social/program on the history of the Iditarod.  We all joined her on the BSP bus which is covered in yellow roses and large BSP letters on the side.  We are headed to Alaska and while on the way we had a special box dinner.  We had a choice of chicken parmigiana rice ball or a broccoli and cheese rice ball along with a small salad and mixed fruit cup.  There was iced tea, raspberry iced tea, coffee, tea, lemonade, water and milk.  For dessert we had a variety of cookies and brownies.  She shared her pictures of her recent trip to Alaska.

In October, we welcomed four sisters interested in joining our online chapter.  For our program, we learned about what “day” our birthday was……It seems that every day is "something" Day.  So lets look at that dilemna more closely.  There are International days, weeks and months.  These are dates that are proposed by United Nations members and are established by resolutions.  A few of these would be April 2 - World Autism Awareness Day, Jun 5 - World  Environment Day, Dec 1 - World AIDS Day and today is Oct 18 - Conflict Resolution Day and World Vasectomy Day. The common theme is an issue that affects all countries.

Then there are the National Days (US).  Sorry didn't find one for Canada.  This month is: Adopt a Shelter Dog Month, Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Caffeine Addiction Recovery Month to name a few.  But there are 31 days this month and most days have several remembrance days.  For example, Oct 18th is National Chocolate Cupcake Day, National no beard Day, and National Get Smart About Credit Day amongst others.

Crazy huh?  Well now lets have some fun.  Here are some websites with these days listed.  Find a strange or funny day and post it to the chapter. The stranger the better.  After all this is Halloween season.

We enjoyed our programs in both months!

On Line Beta

Online Beta had one visitor at the October meeting who was with us because she missed a land meeting. It was wonderful having her with us!

Some members planned to attend the October Conference in Cooperstown, New York.

This month I will spend time to share about our Program and Social.

The Program and Social for Online Beta. Our October Program was on Getting Organized for the Future.  Jennie shared information her husband gathered for an outreach to Vietnam Veterans, but everyone can benefit from the guidance about important life documents, bills, and health care issues. The issues shared are very impotant and everyone would benefit from the advice.

The Social was at a winery and we enjoyed learning about not only wines, but apples, cider, and donuts at a Massachusetts Orchard.

Joyfully submitted,

Joanie N.

Online Beta

On Line Eta

Jacey joined online Eta and was given the pledge ritual at the OCTOBER meeting.  We all welcomed her.

Jacey and Melissa are about to complete their pledge training in under 6 weeks.  Karen I. loves it!

Prayers for Susan and her daughter for calm waters.

Karen posted a program to help sisters with their computers during the OCTOBER meeting as it is a perfect time before the end of the year.

Karen I.  was out late at poker party with 55 other sisters and families playing Texas Hold Em' last night,

Judy is in Japan having a grand time, and our Germany sister, Joyce, is visiting Cuba with her mom.  Susan continues to enjoy car shows and travel with her husband.

Wishing those in the U.S. a happy Thanksgiving and safe travels, happy holidays, Merry Christmas, and a HAPPY 2019 New Year to all sisters.

Respectfully submitted,  Karen Rep for OL Eta

We had no Social or Program this month.

Recipe:  Carole V. shared a recipe for Quinoa and Kale, which can be adjusted easily to meet everyone’s individual tastes.

Unfinished Business:  As a chapter we discussed the suggestion of the On Line gathering.  Many sisters would love to attend, depending on the time of year and where it will be held.

No New Business and the meeting was adjourned with the Closing Ritual and Mispah.

On Line Kappa

On Line Kappa always has an exciting agenda of activities going on.   The programs promise to be informative and the socials leave each of us feeling present and included.

The big events for OLK since the Nov 2017 Cyber Council meeting has been the holiday pageants at church.  It has been so much fun to read about what roles the children played.  There were more experiences of the "thrill of victory" than the "agony of defeat" .   All in all, the stars of these holiday pageant programs were definitely Oscar winners as reported by their Moms.  Other big news for OLK has been new members joining our Fold of Sisterhood.  These Gals are awesome and add a unique flavor to the diversity of our OLK Group.

The whole chapter received a special treat of updated Yearbooks.  This task and treat was completed by a mother-daughter  team within our gifted group.  Each one of us presented a recent picture of ourselves along with news and items of interest that were shared with the chapter group.  What a treasure.

The coming year promises to be full of continued togetherness for On Line Kappa. We have members who will be making progression, others are completing programs of academic goals.  As happens in life, each member has issues of anxiety and concern.  The therapy of being able to journal and to share is helpful to both the sender and the reader.  The support that comes from offering a shoulder, a listening ear, a suggestion of free advice is the jewel of our Sisterhood.  Our chapter is blessed to have a licensed Grief Counselor in our group.  She has counseled many OLK members over her years.

As the Cyber Council Representative for On Line Kappa #110, I want to extend Happy New Year's cheer to everyone and wishes for a happy and prosperous 2018.

Keep hope and faith alive,     Bonnie Online Kappa #110
