Sharing Reports - January 2002

OnLine Beta

On Line Beta lost one member and welcomed another during December. We remain at our cap of 75. Our new officers (Trish, Judy, SusanB, Sherry)were installed. Our social involved exchanging recipes and singing Christmas carols. Our program was sharing our ideal perfect getaway without making anyone blush. :-) Our WOY was announced and it's none other than yours truly. I feel very honored to say the least. Much discussion arose over the amount of chatter and it was agreed that during meetings people would not post unless it related to business, or was something they felt needed immediate attention. We continued to support those in need of our prayers and bubbles.

Happy New Year everyone.

Just like everyone else, are members are all recovering from the recent holidays. In November, we has 101 messages fly thru our mailing list and, in December, there were 120. We are a pretty talkative group of only 41 members!

Our November program was presented by one of our non-American born sisters that was all about Thanksgiving. This sister was originally from Central America, but now lives in northern California, and is married to an American. She asked us all to share how we celebrate our own Thanksgivings (we have sisters celebrating Thanksgiving both in Canada and the US). We shared our bad turkey day experiences along with sharing delicious recipes.

Our December program was presented by one of our sisters that had taken a three week trip to China. She shared her day-by-day journal with us and that was very enlightening and educational. She then asked us to share our own thoughts on if there was some place we wanted to visit for an extended period of time or to share stories about some of the places we may have already visited.

Our January program (yeah, I'm jumping ahead) has just been presented by a sister that recently spent 15 days in southern Spain. She too shared her day-by-day journal of the sights she had the opportunity to visit. She has asked to share our thoughts on time travel (i.e., would we like to do so and, if so, to what location and would we have liked to met a famous person.)

And, I have to brag a bit, did you all get your January edition of The Torch yet? I know that some of our sisters that live outside of the US don't receive their copies as quickly as we do in the US but, when you get yours, one of our chapter members is highlighted in a full page article on page 28.

We'll be holding our elections for new OLD (is that an oxymoron?) officers in March so now that Kathy has the list nice and neat and up-to-date, we'll mess her up in a couple of months : )

Beta love,
Maureen

November: Our sisters were very busy, as we only had 92 messages posted this month. Two of our sisters were in the Torch (separate pics, too!).Continuing our Bijou Review these, for our program this month each sister was being visited by James Bond. Each sister was asked to choose their favorite James Bond (Sean Connery, George Lazenby, Roger Moore, Timothy Dalton, or Pierce Brosnan), tell why he's visiting them, and any plans for the visit. We had many martini's shared!

December: We had 167 messages posted. Everyone was very busy with holiday happenings and travels which many shared with us. Special Sister gifts were exchanged -- what wonderful gift ideas were shared! We held a virtual "Holiday Cavalcade". Each sister had a part in the show, sharing their talents, description of their performance, and costume choices with us all. It was a great success! Our membership is now at 52 members (our cap is 65).

Happy New Year to everyone!
Chris

OnLineEta

On line Eta held a very interesting meeting during the busy holiday season with members describing their own memories of holiday festivities complete with delicious recipes.

We will be starting the new year with a new chairperson, Margie. Jane has done a fantastic job this past year as our first chairperson and organizer of the chapter committees.

Our first BSP legacy was born on Dec 20th, and proud mom, Rhonda, put up photos for us the day she arrived home. What a beautiful baby girl!

We welcomed our new member Linda from Burlington, Ontario. She will be joining our first meeting next week.

And last but certainly not least, Karen shared her mother's olympic torch race with us and we all felt the pride and emotion supporting this great lady, also a sister.

OnLineSigma

On Line Sigma's December meeting is always an important one as we nominate and vote on our new slate of officers for the coming year. They will be announced and installed at our January meeting. (We meet on the third Wednesday of each month) Janice Varga has been our President for the past two years and has done a wonderful job ... as has our executive board. We also voted on our Woman of the Year who be announced at our January meeting.

Also making December an important month for OLS is the revealing of Secret Sisters. You find out who your special secret sister is when you receive your Christmas package from her. We also sign up if we want to participate in the secret sister program for the coming new year.

Everyone was the Hostess for the December meeting as we had one of our great "Pot Luck" dinners. Those that had time included recipes. Love those virtual dinners since they are calorie free!

Our December Program was easy since everyone was so busy with the holidays ... we just had to tell what our Christmas Tree looked like. Trees with gold decorations seemed to be the most popular theme this holiday season ... but all Christmas trees are beautiful because of the spirit of the season.

Happy chapter news is the continued planning of our first On-Line Sigma Reunion to be held March 1st to March 3rd in New Braunfels, Texas and my house!

Not so happy chapter news is that Ginger and Greg did not get to spend Christmas together this year because of the war. We are so proud of Greg though and of all the men and women serving our great country.

We are looking forward to the New Year - 2002 and send all of you the best of wishes for the coming year.

Always remember ... There are Angels Among us.
Ruth

OLAP starts out the NEW Year 2002 by announcing who our Special Sisters are. WE are excited to continue our monthly programs, hosting by a different sister each month and sharing and caring with each other.
