October Musings

A Yellow rose
In my garden grows,
Tho it is late October
It stands so alone-
So tall above the litter
Of dark, dead leaves.
It heeds
Neither fog nor bitter wind.
I stand by my darkened window
And ponder.
It catches a gleam
From the light
Next door.
It gives me Hope-
And Courage-
And Faith
In a bright tomorrow.
May I too stand
And hold aloft
A Torch
In these dark days.
May some young searcher
Catch a gleam
To lead her onward-
Upward-
To the place
Of her high calling.
Dear Lord
I pray
Keep my Torch Gleam steady.
