Here are some ideas to help with your pledge training. Beta BingoReview all the key words used in Beta Sigma Phi and their meaning. Compose grids of 5 X 5 squares with one free space in the center. Have them write down words from a list of fifty in their 24 squares. All will vary and no repeat words. Give them each sticky notes (25) to use as markers as you call from your master list of "Beta Bingo". You can award prizes for winners.
Greek AlphabetHave the girls put the Greek Alphabet in order beginning with Alpha or in reverse order. Below is the Alphabet in order.
Or use it in a poem or phrase. I went shopping at Alpha Beta Gamma and met Delta, Epsilon, Zeta while there. To my surprise I ran into Eta, Theta and Iota doing some shopping of their own. Kappa and Lambda came to assist with all the groceries and could not resist those delightful sisters that go by the name of Mu and Nu. The sisters loaded up their cars and headed for the meeting at Xi, Omicron and Pi's home. A social was to be given for their new found friends of Rho, Sigma and Tau. But, to the sisters' surprise they would not remain if their sisters from across the Bay in Upsilon did not come along. They did come forth after picking up friends in Phi and Chi around the corner from Psi and down the street from Omega. Use the BSP VideoOrder the Beta Sigma Phi video. This tape tells about the history makers in Beta Sigma Phi, chapters, degrees and years programs were started. Great for giving the members background information. Bring Members Yearbooks
Plan a ProgramAssign a program to the Pledge(s). Make it simple. At the next pledge training have them present it to you. At that time give them pointers for improvement and encourage their strong points. Bring International/Chapter FormsMake copies to distribute to the group. Go over the forms and show them samples of how to fill them out.
Let them know them know what months these forms appear in the Torch. If not, from the Torch, tell them how to locate them. AgendaHere is a sample Agenda I use. The Agenda is a guide to follow when conducting a meeting. It helps members know when it is their turn to take the floor or make a report. They can be simple or modified to fit the chapter's needs. (This helps the Recording Secretary record the minutes.)
Division ChairmanHave them name the Division Chairman for your area. Let the pledges know the functions of the Division Chairman. You can locate the name of the Division Chairman for your area inside the Torch cover. |
